Exhausted All the Time? Tips to Win Back More Energy

Life can be exhausting! Can you relate?

Do you dread when that alarm goes off in the early morning?

Do you drag your lifeless body out of bed each day?

Where did all that energy go that you had in the 'younger days'? It's just crazy!

Your get up and go, got up and went!

Here at Curly Girl Fitness we have listened to our friends and followers and have come to some conclusions.

Feeling tired all the time, most likely, is a result of daily unhealthy habits women practice. Let's talk about them. Let's discuss how to break those habits and get healthier, happier, and finally feel better!

Exhausted All the Time? Tips to Win Back More Energy

Lay the Phone Down or Turn Off the TV

We talk about this often. Ditch the phone, TV, or any electronics an hour before bedtime. These items stimulate your brain, make you think, wind you up. You don't need that when you are trying to relax and wind down.

To break bad habits, you must replace them with good habits. However, it takes time to make the transition, so be easy on yourself.

Remind yourself to cut the electronics off an hour prior to bedtime. Instead, read a book, take a bath or shower, stretch, do deep breathing (try this breathing app Headspace) or journal. Tell yourself it's time to wind down and free your brain of all the worry and to-do lists. Win back more energy!

Prevent Carb and Calorie Overload

Carb and calorie overload makes you extremely tired because these items are packed full of sugar. When you eat these foods, they give you a fabulous feeling! But then you drop from that 'high' and hit a low...until you feed the craving again. Carbs make us happier—and not just because they're delicious, but they actually have a chemical reaction because they boost your brain's release of serotonin – chemical in the brain that helps you feel calm and satisfied.

Add more fish, chicken, vegetables, greens, cabbage, eggs, squash, flaxseed, and other low carb foods to your daily meals. This will help kick those nasty carb ravings and lower your daily calorie intake. This will help you win back more energy as well.

Find a Physical Activity You Like

Get moving every single day for 20-30 minutes. It does the body good! And your mood. Physical Activity has many benefits for you! Exercise boosts your mood, gives you more energy, helps you sleep better, and prevents diseases.

Ideas for Daily Exercise

  • Walking or Power Walking
  • Lifting weights or kettle bells
  • YouTube Workout Videos - Look up Whole body workouts or Ab workouts.
  • Planks
  • Resistance Band Workouts

Let Your Family Members Be More Responsible

No wonder you are exhausted, you never stop! You are doing "it all" for everyone. The kids, work, housework, gardening, spouse, activities, grocery shopping, cooking, and medical appointments.

We see many moms overloaded. Doing everything for everyone. It can be so harmful to a family. Why? First, it wears the mom completely down. She has no time to enjoy her life. Her health starts to suffer. Diseases begin to take over. She simply has no time to take care of herself.

Secondly, her family members have no responsibility and no accountability and depend on everyone else. They often become lazy, underachievers, dependent on others, have no work ethic or no desire to get somewhere in life, become depressed or filled with anxiety, and cannot socialize.

The Importance Of Teaching Children Responsibility?

Moms, let your family members be more responsible. Let them set the table, prepare meals, do laundry, put laundry away, scrub the bathroom, and make their bed every day. All you need to do is teach them to be responsible and work for what they want. And to take care of what they have and to take care of their health. Don't do it all for them. They learn nothing and wear you down.

What is the biggest thing in your life that keeps you exhausted?
