It never fails, just when you think life is going well - boom the hammer drops! The babysitter moves. You get fired from your job. Family drama continues. Someone gets sick. The electric bill doubles. Does it ever end?
The pressure and stress of life's struggles weighs you down like a barbell. You can't breathe, and you see no solutions. You are drowning.
You have called in sick twice this week because you can't get out of bed. You aren't eating right, and you can barely take care of yourself let alone a home, husband and kids.
Sound familiar?
Life can be tough, but you must keep in mind that there are always options no matter how tough it gets.
I have been there and continue to struggle sometimes. Why? Because life challenges us. It doesn't seem fair, but that's how we grow and learn.
You become a stronger person because of your challenges. I want to pass on some advice that I have learned over the years from great women about dealing with life's challenges.
5 Things Great Women Do in Difficult Times
#1 Let Go of Control
You can't control everything during difficult times. Women, especially, feel the need to be in control. I think it comes from the values instilled in us from a very young age that a woman oversees running a happy and clean household. You are expected to be 'perfect'. If things are not 'perfect', you are expected to fix it.
These are false values and expectations. These thoughts place pressure on women to be Superwoman. Let this concept GO. Let's face the facts, things happen and there is nothing we can do about it. We must learn from it and grow from it and move on - just like everyone else. Let go of control. Why? Because we aren't super-human at all.
#2 Trust A Friend
Don't hold your grief inside. Whatever is bothering you, talk to someone you trust. Give a friend or family member a chance to help you through your troubled times. You can learn a lot from other people. Talking things out feels good. During this conversation you might just come up with a solution. Two heads are better than one!
#3 Hop in The Driver's Seat
"If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude."- Mayo Angelou. You have always been in the driver's seat of your life. If something needs changed for your health or happiness, change it. Set your future into motion by making moves. Change is refreshing and can give you an entirely new outlook on life.
#4 Become Proactive
Storms and struggles will come. It's part of life. But, you don't have to curl up in bed and let them take over. Search for answers. Do research. Make phone calls. Talk to people. Find solutions. Never forget, there are always options. The great women that I know have all told me "Just keep searching, the answer is out there waiting for you to discover it. " There is always hope during difficult times.
#5 Remember This Too Shall Pass
Have faith. Difficult times won't last forever. On a positive note, remember that this too, shall pass. Whatever you are facing will not remain for long. Things change. We learn. We make mistakes. We get through. We move on. Someday soon you will look back on this challenge or storm and see what it has taught you.
Each challenge teaches us something. You become smarter and stronger with every climb. Don't forget to breathe. Remember to reach out. Take care of yourself. Keep moving forward and don't look back.
