Simple, Yummy Summer Grilling Sides

Summertime is back again! Grilling those favorite meats and sides for lunch and dinner is fun and saves you money. Today's blog will give you more money-saving side choices. Ready to fire up that grill? 


Grilled Pineapple 

Your friends and family will enjoy this sweet summer side on the grill. It's easy, delicious, and cheap! Add it to your favorites. Learn How to Choose A Pineapple .


1 Pineapple 

2 1/2 TBSP of honey

2 1/2 TBSP brown sugar 

1/2 cup hot water

1/2 TSP salt 

Directions: Cut and slice the pineapple into rings. In a bowl whisk together all the ingredients together in a bowl. Pour the mixture into a zip lock baggy. Gently add all the pineapple rings to the baggie. Let marinade for 20 minutes. Brush a medium heat grill with olive or canola oil and using tongs, lift pineapple out of baggie one by one and place them onto the grill. Cook 3-4 minutes on each side. Look for good grill marks. Sprinkle with salt, it brings out flavor.


Cheesy Asparagus Grill Foil Packs  

For all of the asparagus lovers out there try this tasty asparagus side! Crisp and full of flavor, bursting with cheesy goodness. It's always a winner at our house.


1  Bundle of Asparagus 

Olive Oil to coat

Sprinkles of Garlic Powder 

Sprinkles of Sea Salt 

Squeeze of lemon juice 

Parmesan and Mozzarella cheese combination

Directions: Wash your asparagus well. Pat dry with a towel. Snap the ends off the asparagus. Use low-medium grill heat. Coat grill with olive oil or canola oil. In a pan, coat the asparagus in olive oil, sprinkle with seasonings. Drop the foil packs onto the grill. Cook for 10-15 minutes. Top with a squeeze of lemon juice and Parmesan and Mozzarella cheese combination. Enjoy!

 Sweet Caramelized Carrots 

This recipe is so simple, but the flavor is amazing! It's the perfect side recipe to feed a crowd with because a bag of carrots doesn't cost much, and it has very few ingredients. 

1 bag of carrots (or more if feeding a crowd)

3 Tsp. Butter 

1/ cup Olive Oil 

1/4 cup water

Wash and slice carrots into 1-2 inch slices. Slicing the carrots long ways allows them to cook easier. Another option is to cut them into about the size of a quarter, but not too thick, because it will take longer to cook on the grill. Use an aluminum foil container and add olive oil, water, and butter in the bottom. Add in carrots.

Grill on medium-low for approximately 40-minutes, or less depending on your grill. Occasionally, stir and separate carrots so they don't stick. Keep the butter, olive oil, and water mixture in bottom of pan. Add more, if needed, to keep from drying out during grilling process. At some point your carrots may become charred which gives it a tasty, caramelized flavor!


Grilled Broccoli

This is my favorite way to make broccoli on the grill. Every time we make it at our get-togethers family and friends comment great things about it. it's an easy, tasty side to add to your favorite grilling meats.  


1 Broccoli Crown

1/4 cup of olive oil

3 Tsp. softened butter

3 TBS. of water 

Salt & Pepper 

Leave plain or Top with Velveeta or cheese of choice


Add your cleaned and cut broccoli to the center of a sheet of aluminum foil (approximate sheet size 8 x 10) 

In a bowl ad 1/4 cup of olive oil and 3 tsp. of softened butter for basting throughout the grilling process. 

Baste broccoli with this mixture. Add 1 TBS. of water and salt & pepper to taste. 

Crinkle aluminum foil up around broccoli to enclose around it.

Grill for approximately 10-15 minutes on medium-low heat. Add the additional water as needed. 

Leave plain or Top with Velveeta or cheese of choice
